K 2010 Highlights

K 2010 is just a few days away -- and the excitement is rising. That is because K remains the best and biggest show for those engaged in the plastics and rubber industry. It is the event to see and be seen. An event where over 3,000 companies want to launch their new products or show off what they have. It's also the event to meet those we have not met before, a chance to expand our network. For the media, this is the place to meet the who's who in the plastics business, a chance to talk to those who make the decisions that matter to the whole industry.

I have always been fascinated by big exhibitions. Not only because of the size and the variety of products that can be found but also the vast information that can be derived from those who continuously innovate and contribute these innovations to the industry.

So this year's K will definitely make its own mark in the global plastics and rubber industry. For one, the presentations by machinery and equipment manufacturers, raw materials producers and plastics processors will this year be flanked by a special review entitled “Visions in Polymers”. This will present examples from different areas of life where plastics and rubber are applied. The review will reveal the development trends and innovations in the pipelines. Here, too, special emphasis will be placed on the themes of energy efficiency and resource conservation. The multimedia exhibition – including film sequences, articles and selected exhibits – will highlight the significant contributions that plastics are already making today and the opportunities they offer for tomorrow.

The panel discussions are also interesting as top-ranking scientists will address questions as to how the future could look. So for the six days during K 2010, current topics will be discussed by a panel of experts in English or in German on alternate days and in this discussions, these experts will explore perspectives for the future from various angles.
