International Plastics News for Asia

Advanced recycling technologies

Recycling systems are expected to be in high demand in the coming years due to the worldwide focus on environment protection. The search for the best waste management methods to reduce the need for landfilling and incineration and convert waste materials, such as those made of plastics, into usable products has created opportunities for technology and equipment suppliers.

In the January issue of the International Plastics News Middle East, we featured several advanced recycling systems - one of them the Erema recycling system and the the turn-key recycling plant supplied by Herbold Meckesheim. These advanced systems guide processors towards achieving sustainability.

Similarly in Asia, we have seen a growing number of companies providing a whole range of recycling, granulating and pelletising equipment -- all designed to meet the specific requirements of the processors to achieve energy saving and improve the level of production efficiency. We have the recycling systems from Shanghai Dayun Plastic Recyle Auxiliary Equipment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd,, Song Ming Machinery Industries Co., Ltd, Jiangsu Lianguan Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd. among others (please check www.industrysourcing.com for their showrooms).

The development of recycling technologies is seeing positive prospects given that countries in Asia have been adopting recycling as a strategy with laws formulated and implemented to support this objective. Japan's plastic recycling rate, for instance, is now at 77%, and this figure is about twice that of the UK, and well above the 20% figure for the US. With more countries following this path, suppliers of equipment will have a busy year ahead.
