International Plastics News for Asia

The "Green Future" of Plastics and Rubber Industry

Next week, Asia's biggest plastics and rubber exhibition, the CHINAPLAS 2012, will take place in Shanghai. Sustainability being a buzzword in the plastics and rubber industry, innovations in technologies and materials are expected to focus on environment protection.

With plastics and rubber now widely used in various industries, such as in automotive, electronics and electrical, IT & telecommunications, packaging, building, medical and other emerging sectors such as energy generation, achieving "green production" will serve as the ultimate goal of enterprises. This will become more visible at CHINAPLAS which will have "the Future is in Plastics & Rubber" as its theme, where the drive towards the development of green technology will lead the industry to a "Green Future."

Check out "The Future Zone" which will be held at the Central Square of Shanghai New International Expo Centre. This will consist of 2 parts: the first part called "Nurturing our Future" programme will feature experts from East China University of Science and Technology and from the automotive industry to co-operate, design, produce "Future Cars" with major components made of plastics and rubber, crossing over innovations with advance green technologies. The winning design will be displayed at the fairground.

The second part is named "Premium Design Gallery" which will serve as a platform for machine manufacturers and raw materials suppliers to invite their customers to showcase recent launched products in automotive, electronics & electrical appliances and packaging categories which are well-designed with highly-improved functionality and energy saving qualities. These are all interesting side events that will provide a completely new experience.

Another event which drew overwhelming response in the past two years will return this year. The 4th International Seminar on Bioplastics Applications will be held concurrently during the first two days of CHINAPLAS 2012. Global bioplastics professionals, government officials and buyers around the world will join together and share their insights and experiences on the innovation and applied technology of bioplastics. In-depth discussion and case studies about natural bio-plastics, starch / plastic composite materials, bio-nylon, polyolefin, and other biological materials enable audience to realize the investment opportunities in global bioplastics market and acquire valuable technical advices and recommendations.
